Lima

So the journey to lima. In Madrid my bags didn't come through; noone told me they were checked straight through to my flight the next day so it's just as well i had overnight things in my hand luggage really! Then in my hotel in Madrid it took 75mins for my room service food to arrive. And when checking out they tried to charge me for three phone calls to Angola! Angola I ask? I don't know a single person in the whole African continent!!

Anyhow, arrived in Peru safely and met my group leader who we renamed Roddy for no real reason (his name's John). He took me and Steph back to our hostel (Miraflores House) where we met Jack, a guy from our group. Being hungry, we headed off to Pizza Street for some food. Pizza street's great, all these italian restaurants with people touting for you trade and offering free drinks if only you'll choose their place! We went to one with free sangria. After food we went to an English pub (cultural), a peruvian bar and then home by 11pm. 11pm being 5am at home. So not as lame as it sounds!

Yesteray was my first full day in Peru. Woke up to be greeted by a new girl Woody (Jack's logic was Rebecca rhymes with Woodpecker = Woody). Roddy took us for a little tour of Lima; there's not particularly much to see architecturally so we went to kennedy park (named in honour of JFK), got some food (a big heffing steak and cheese sandwich) then went Bowling! And in an exciting twist, i almost won but didn't!! We were about to leave the place but saw a massive skalectrix track and thought what fun! Notsomuch.com. There was no skill involved, didn't even have to slow down for the corners. Steph won because her car was on the inside. But then, but then, we got an hour of pool. How much for I hear you cry??? 20 Nuevo Soles. Ie 33p. For an hour of pool. Mwa ha! Played winner stays on. I stayed on. Until i missed a ridiculously easy shot on black and Roddy stormed to victory. We will rematch!

So then we got a taxi back to the supermarket beside the hostel. So many free food and wine samples we didn't need to buy any dinner! So cool! Free samples of sandwiches i ask. Where else would you get free samples of sandwiches! Substantial bits too, like 5 bites worth! Mmm. And there was an Argentinian wine called Aberdeen Angus. Twas quite tasty too.

Came back to the hotel with some 1litre cartons of wine (1pound cost) and played cards for a while. Then to bed. And now i can't sleep because it's technically 12.38pm at home and i'm not yet adjusted to the time difference. Thought what an opportunity to get on the free internet! And now i'm going to bed. Night!
